I'm a fan of ebony binding- very dramatic and looks good with practically anything.

Hesh,

That looks really nice - almost European for an American guitar . FP can be a love hate thing - love the results but hate the process but as they say practice makes (almost and eventually) perfect. The wood looks warm and alive and the sound you describe matches it.

Welcome to the Euro/mahogany club - it's a dream team. Lutz is the closest to Euro I've come across - about 90-95% I'd say but Euro has that certain extra. It's the d's b of top woods (I'd tell you what that meant but Lance would get cross).

I like to think that when CF made the trip west from Germany he homed in on Adi as that reminded him most of home and Euro spruce Looking forward to the next one. As for the binding if you could get some flamed mahogany it would look stunning - curly koa with Cuban mahogany looks great so the inverse would go:



Or else African blackwood or ebony would look good too.

Really sweet, yet again. I love the look of the FP. I hope it was worth the work.

That's a mighty sweet lookin' guitar, Hesh! Well done!    Are you sure you need to buff that beauty? The gloss level looks just right to me--warm and glowing.

As for bindings on your next...how about Wenge? It's dark, and has interesting, subtle figure that won't fight the Koa. Might be a headache to bend, though....

Is the nut a bit short?

Bindings-with those sides I'd use off-cuts from the sides with a purfling line and glue them on to the side and area they were cut from.
That makes it look like you just inlayed the side with purfs!

Yet another smokin'geetar!!

That set of koa is so nice, I would not want to take any of the attention away from it with the binding.

I am building a koa guitar and using black ebony bindings-I will see if I can dig up a picture and post it.

Like John A, I think you should go with ebony bindings for the koa carp guitar. Or maybe you could go real bold and hit it with bloodwood appointments like fb binding, rosette etc....

Wow, Hesh, she is a beauty! I love the warmth and depth of the FP. It is worth it, me thinks. I would love to hear it. And btw, I think that FP makes for a very nice feel to the neck, something that doesn't get discussed very much compared to other advantages of it.

Lovely workmanship and it looks like real low action! Sweet.

Now you have a beautiful pair of L-OOs... I know you changed th depth on
the 2nd one. What are the measurement of the pair...just curious since I just
closed the box on my 1st. LOO
I love the finish. You may have answered this, but did you use Epoxy as
your pore filler? Also, did you do the quick FP method like Brune and
O'Brian or was it the more traditional Millburn approach.
Boy do you have a full rack of guitar. How do you decide which to play or do
you typically play one or two favorites. (Which one is your favorite!!!)

She's a beauty! And with those comments on the tone everyone here will
have polishers elbow soon. It's a really great looking finish(as is the whole
package). Do you think it will be less work to FP a second one? Any hope
that it might become easier from what you have learned?

BTW Hesh I put my L-OO body in my Ameritage classical case and it fits
pretty well. Fairly tight but not form fitting. Gaps at the waist but it stays
put.
